It might seem like a scary thing – moving to such a huge place such as London, maybe without knowing a single soul – but actually it is a very easy place to find your feet and get set up.

London is a unique place for travellers to live ,study or work as most people who come here will get the unique chance to really get to know people from different cultures ,religions and countries and over a period of time, creating relationships and memories that lasts the lifetime.

London is a busy place but full of anything you could hope for. Any activity you want can be found here somewhere – any club, sports group, language course, art class… anything

We have put together for you a few helpful tips on how to blend in into everyday life in London.

ACCOMODATION IN LONDON

Sorting out a place to live will be the first thing you’ll have to do before your arrival to London.

There are many options to choose from so it can be a little overwhelming to know which one to choose and of course the biggest factor is the finance. Housing in London can be very expensive and often a large amount of your finance will be held in deposits and long term contracts.

To avoid this we have come up with affordable option for you in a form of Share House accommodation to help you set up and to make the transition for your arrival really easy.

SHARE HOUSE

is a larger property with several rooms whom are shared typically(but not always) by 2 people per room and all living facilities such as bathrooms , toilets and kitchen are shared by all the housemates.
Houses are furnished and amenities such a bedding, washing machine, fridge ,cooker and wi-fi are provided.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The cost of transport in London is expensive. You will need to purchase an OYSTER CARD which you must have to be able to travel on public transport. You can also use your contactless debit or credit card to pay for your journey. However Oyster Card is the safest option.

The transport is well connected 24 hours a day 7 days and with several options to choose from you will be quickly getting use to changing between the Underground, Overground, Buses or DLR to get you to work or school daily.
Once you are settled working and getting paid this will become just another bill which could be paid in several ways.

You may also decide to invest in a bike and cycle to work which is one of the options.

OYSTER CARD

Oyster card can be purchased at the Airport , any Underground station ,Overground Station or even at the local News Agents and other small food stores.

The cost of the card is 5GPB. This is a refundable deposit which would be given back to you after you return the card.

DO NOT FORGET!! to register your Oyster card at www.tfl.co.uk/oyster as in case of the loss or the theft of the card this card could be replaced free of charge with the same amount of credit.

After you register your Oyster Card you will also be able to top –up your card online which will save you the time.

TOP_UP

There are options you may top up your card with credit for your journey.

Pay as you go Top- Up

This means topping up with cash amount and this would be deducted from your Oyster depending on your usage of the transport.

Travel Card Top-Up

This option is much better and will save you money.

You will be able to choose from several different Travel Cards depending on the zones and form of transport you will use.
