Now that European borders are fading, there is a growing demand on the international labour market for graduates who know from personal experience what it means to study and work in an international environment. People for whom the political and economic structures in Europe have no secrets; professionals who can manage cultural differences and who can be widely employed because of their extensive knowledge in the fields of strategic communication in a public and/or private environment. Professionals who can also communicate fluently in various European languages. Although it may be hard to believe that all of this is covered in just one study programme, this is just so in European Studies.
To prepare you even better for the international labour market, to offer you an international learning environment and to facilitate a possible transfer to an interesting Master’s programme abroad, European Studies is fully taught in English. After completing this four-year (full-time) study programme, you will have a Bachelor’s degree in European Studies.
If you’re interested in a fascinating and challenging job which involves a lot of international exposure and business contacts all over the world, our International Business course will be an excellent starting point for a dynamic and international career.
At the beginning of the academic year of 2009-2010 the courses of International Business and Languages (IBL) and International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) at Zuyd merged into a new, four-year Bachelor’s degree course of International Business (IB). Students who are
enrolled will either start in a Dutch stream (a foundation programme taught in Dutch) or in an English stream (a foundation programme taught in English). The themes and subjects in the first and second academic years will be identical for students enrolled in both streams.
Meet the world in Maastricht!
We are located in the historic city of Maastricht, home of the Treaty of the European Union, at the centre of the Meuse-Rhine Euregion, where the borders of Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands meet. Many famous European cities such as Amsterdam, London, Aachen, Brussels and Paris are within easy reach.
Courses at the Hotel Management School Maastricht have a practical focus. We’ll help you to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable you to carry out practical assignments both inside and outside the school.
First, you will apply what you have learned in the Teaching Hotel, and later on in company-based practical and management interships. And you’ll gradually acquire the professional competence that will enable you to make a brilliant start to your career.
The assignments that you are set will become more challenging as the course progresses. And they will also be closer to ‘real life’. Which means that it won’t just be teachers assessing you but that also real clients are involved, i.e. people from the industry who have come to you or your project group with a question or problem.
The Hotel School also hosts a lot of guest lecturers – often alumni – who can give you an insight into the latest developments in their field. In the second phase of the course, you will be able to choose a track, which will give your degree from the Hotel Management School Maastricht an entirely individual aspect.
